Cooking 101 - Campfire cookbook to benefit Boy Scouts
Troop 101 in Warren, Ohio is one of the largest and longest running Boy Scout Troops in our area. With over 60 boys from all over Trumbull county, we camp once a month and have some of the best campfire cooks (ehem, me included). We just passed our 35th anniversary and we've compiled a VERY comprehensive collection of both dutch-oven and family recipes. This is not your small collection of recipes, but almost 400 tried and true dutch oven and camp-friendly dishes. The Troop is selling these books for 12 bucks a pop and for an extra 3 dollars, they'll ship them to you. I highly recommend this book, and ask that you help support our boys! Click here to order one.
CockeyeBBQ now offering catering!
After many requests and bringing our competition bbq to parties, fund-raisers and community parties we've been asked one too many times if we also do catering.
Well folks, the time has come and now CockeyeBBQ is offering the same award-winning, competition style bbq that has earned us our reputation.
We'd like to start out with low-key graduation parties, family reunions and good weather, outdoor functions but we're also available for weddings, class reunions and corporate functions.
If you're interested in speaking with my about catering your event, just give me a call at 330-369-4304 and I'll be happy to give you an estimate.
Please make sure to have your date in mind as well as an approximate number of hungry people we'll be feeding!
Yours in bbq smoke!

Oh-Ache-Eye-Oh
Ohio State's Barbecue Club is preparing for a new special sauce. The club's Grillteam members recently partnered with the Food Industries Center and developed a new sauce that is to be taste-tested by students during the first week of December.
"The OSU Barbecue Club is inviting the entire campus out to the sensory panel evaluation," said Alex Gardner, founder of the club and a senior in finance.
"We want you to give us feedback on our sauce, so that we can develop the Barbecue Club's first official sauce," he said.
The plans are still being made; however, the Barbecue Club is setting up specific times for an evaluation lab.
The club urges students, faculty and staff to give their opinions on the sauce, and help with a taste analysis.
Ohio Smoked Meat Fest 2007 - Nelsonville
Well the status of this year's contest was shaky to say the least. A week or so before the contest word was that it was to be cancelled due to lack of interest and team participation.
My entry had been sent in months before, and even I was worried as I hadn't received the normal cook's packet in the mail and the website (which is normally dreadfully outdated) was in even more disarray.
