We've sent in our application for our next contest. Oinktoberfest in New York. I've heard nothing but good things about this venue, and I'm really looking forward to it. We'll probably be taking off Friday to get set up. Hopefully our whole team will be able to make it and as always we can take pre-orders for Big Green Eggs and accessories. We even have some stock of Wicked Good Competition Blend left if anyone needs some.

Oinktoberfest is scheduled for September 28 - 30, 2007. In its 6th year Oinktoberfest has become one of the premiere events in Western New York. As in previous years, the BBQ Competition will be a part of Western New York's biggest family event, the Great Pumpkin Farm's Fall Festival. Barbecue vendors will once again be in abundance making this WNYs only true taste of BBQ.
Saturday's competition is a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned event and an official NY State Championship. Teams are judged and scored according to KCBS guidelines and rules. The major food categories include: chicken, pork ribs, pork butt/shoulder, and beef brisket. The scores of these four categories determine the Grand Champion. Additional categories include baked beans and back by popular demand, dessert.
Sunday's event, the Backyarders' competition, anything goes: grilling, smoking, frying, baking, any method of outdoor cooking is acceptable. Categories include ribs, sausage, chicken wings, any beef (except brisket), and new this year with it's own prizes, chili. That's right, a chili cookoff as a part of Oinktoberfest 2007. You can enter just this competition with your potential award winning recipe, even if you don't do BBQ.
